The Iconic View of the Statue of Liberty.

1.Statue of Liberty.

A visit to New York City is not complete without a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty. We recommend several ways, places and times to best view the iconic statue, depending on your desired experience – be it shoreline, boat or aerial.

By Land

For an optimum viewing of the Statue of Liberty, visitors should make their way to the southernmost part of Lower Manhattan, known as the Battery. Transit options include getting off at Battery Park/Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty Ferry, taking the subway to South Ferry, or exiting at Bowling Green.

There is no doubt that the most breathtaking landscape on land can be seen from One World Observatory. Situated in the south of Manhattan, this observation deck is the nearest to the Statue of Liberty and offers a unique, close-up view of the landmark.

For a cost-effective experience in Brooklyn, the Fairway Red Hook supermarket (480-500 Van Brunt, Brooklyn, NY 11231) provides a remarkable view of the Statue of Liberty from its parking lot or patio.

Head to Louis Valentino Jr. Pier and Park, (Ferris Street between Coffey and Van Dyke), for a rare, head-on view of the Statue of Liberty – a truly luxurious vantage point! Before you go, why not treat yourself to a picnic of delicious, ready-to-eat food?

The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park Hotel provides guests with an unparalleled opportunity to experience the iconic Statue of Liberty first-hand. Most guest rooms offer spectacular views of the Statue, and are even equipped with telescopes for a closer inspection.

By Sea

For those in a hurry, the most efficient and rewarding way to experience the Statue of Liberty from the water is to take the Circle Line Liberty 1-Hour Cruise.

Embark on a scenic voyage along the majestic Hudson River. Witness the iconic Statue of Liberty and its surrounding monuments, such as Ellis Island – the renowned immigration centre, the majestic Freedom Tower, and the bustling World Financial Center. This tour is offered in seven languages.

For an alternate experience to witness Lady Liberty illuminated against the night sky, the Circle Line Statue by Night Tour is an excellent choice.

The City Sightseeing Ferry is a comprehensive sightseeing and travel solution, providing a one-of-a-kind narrated tour of the New York City waterfront and its renowned landmarks. It is the ideal option for exploring the Big Apple, offering an efficient and enjoyable mode of transportation as well as a memorable harbour cruise.

From the curious and unconventional Museum of Sex to the timeless American Museum of Natural History, these museums offer something for everyone to discover.

Having the opportunity to explore the renowned museums of New York City for the very first time was an incredible experience – the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the American Museum of Natural History, two of the most iconic museums in the world, allowing us to discover and appreciate the world’s cultural and natural wonders.

If you have limited time in New York and don’t consider yourself to be a museum enthusiast, it is recommended that you select just one. We had the opportunity to experience both, albeit briefly, and wished we had taken the time to appreciate one in depth, rather than feeling rushed.

Both museums are remarkable and everyone has unique perspectives on which one is the most exceptional. We found that the American Museum of Natural History was perfect for families with kids, but we personally were inspired by the MET more. Additionally, the rooftop bar at the MET provides breathtaking views!

5.Brooklyn Bridge

The renowned Brooklyn Bridge, renowned as one of the most iconic bridges globally, is frequently featured on the itineraries of travellers to New York. Taking approximately 20 minutes to cross while photographing the scenery and navigating the crowds, it is an experience not to be missed.

The most beautiful time of day to go is in the morning when there are fewer people and the natural light is stunning. With our schedule, we chose to go at sunset and it was amazing to witness the sun’s descent beneath the horizon, yet still bustling with activity!

Due to the increased popularity of biking across the bridge, we advise against it unless you are travelling very early in the morning. Pedestrians have been observed to be distracted, creating hazardous conditions for bikers. We recommend walking across the bridge as an alternative, as it appears to be less stressful.

Having crossed the bridge to success, why not take a moment to admire the stunning sights of Empire Fulton Ferry Park and Main Street Park? Allow yourself to explore the magical wonders of Dumbo and revel in the beauty of the neighbourhood.

For a stunning vista of the Manhattan Bridge, venture to Washington Street and experience Juliana’s Restaurant, renowned as the USA’s greatest pizzeria in 2015. A lovely spot to stop for lunch or a tasty snack!

Visiting Ground Zero is strongly recommended when travelling to New York City. The museum offers an incredibly well-crafted and emotionally moving experience. To ensure an optimal experience, it is advised to visit the museum as soon as possible to avoid overcrowding. As you make your way, be sure to take a moment to admire the Oculus, a stunning train station adjacent to Ground Zero that is meant to symbolise the beauty of a dove taking flight.

6. National September 11 memorial & Museum

If you’re looking to explore the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, why not take advantage of the 9/11 Museum Audio Guide app? All the audio guides had already been rented, so there’s no better way to use our imagination and take in all that life has to offer.
